With less than 10% of global plastic recycled and the rest wreaking havoc on ecosystems, a team of Japanese scientists has created a biodegradable plastic that melts in salt water.
"We expected that microplastics would be less in the Eastern Black Sea than in the Western Black Sea. On the contrary, we realized that microplastic pollution in the Eastern Black Sea was very serious, which surprised us."
