"Good Trouble Lives On" Demonstration and March in Honor of Civil Rights Leader John Lewis
ST CLOUD, MINNESOTA, JUL 18 – The rally honored John Lewis's legacy of peaceful resistance and protested civil rights attacks linked to the Trump administration in over 1,600 nationwide events, organizers said.
- On Saturday, July 19, Local and state DFL lawmakers spoke, with the rally running from noon to 3 p.m. at Lake George in St. Cloud.
- Honoring the fifth annual John Lewis National Day of Action prompted the rally, as organizers cited an extreme crackdown on civil rights, attacks on vulnerable groups and program cuts, according to the Good Trouble Lives On website.
- Amid a family-friendly rally and march, 'They don’t want you to know the law,' Smith said, and 'We are one people, one family: the human family,' Cordell said.
- The rally was one of over 1,600 Good Trouble Lives On events nationwide, and it served as a peaceful protest against Trump’s immigration and healthcare policies.
- Americans for Democracy and Benton/Stearns Progressives organized the event, setting the stage for ongoing collaboration as Paige McKerral said, 'People will never stop fighting for their rights.
