The public pension system in Spain is facing an increasingly unsustainable pressure. With a structural deficit in historical peaks, the ageing of the population and the massive retirement of the baby boom generation, the viability of the current model is in question. The reforms introduced, such as the progressive delay of the retirement age to 67 years in 2027, do not seem sufficient to cover a hole that continues to grow.
