Cape Breton’s Goldie Boutilier Takes Home Top Awards at East Coast Music Awards Gala
Goldie Boutilier won breakthrough artist and album of the year as Cape Breton acts took multiple top honors at the East Coast Music Awards.
On Thursday, Cape Breton artists dominated the East Coast Music Awards in Sydney, Nova Scotia, led by singer-songwriter Goldie Boutilier, who won breakthrough artist of the year and album of the year.
The Barra MacNeils, also from Cape Breton, were honoured with a lifetime achievement award, underscoring the region's deep musical heritage and prominence at the ceremony.
Additional regional talent received recognition: Maggie Andrew of Nova Scotia won pop release of the year, Kellie Loder from Newfoundland and Labrador won songwriter of the year, and Famille LeBlanc of New Brunswick claimed francophone artist of the year.
The five-day East Coast Music Awards festival and conference runs until Sunday, drawing industry attendees to Sydney for recognition and performances.
Boutilier, who performed at BottleRock Napa Valley in 2025, was emotional accepting her prize, crediting Cape Breton with giving her "the grit and stubbornness to persevere.
