- Sonya Walger has been cast as Freya in Prime Video's God of War, an upcoming TV adaptation of the PlayStation video game from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
- Freya is a Vanir goddess and former Queen of the Valkyries who practices powerful, ancient magic; she is Odin's ex-wife who lived alone in Midgard for a century.
- The series, which has received a two-season order, follows Kratos and his 10-year-old son Atreus under showrunner Ronald D. Moore as they battle gods of the Norse pantheon.
- Production is underway in Vancouver, with Emmy-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye directing the first two episodes alongside cast including Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Mandy Patinkin as Odin.
- Walger is perhaps best known for playing Penny Widmore in the hit ABC series Lost; her new novel, Wifehouse, is due for release in April via Union Square Books.
