Xi Urges Stronger Agricultural Modernization During Dezhou Inspection
Xi said China must secure grain supplies and raise farm output as more than 96% of the national wheat harvest was completed by June 18, officials said.
On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected Dezhou City in East China's Shandong Province, visiting Dongyujia Village to interact with grain growers, farming machinery operators, and agricultural technicians.
The inspection occurred as China's 'Sanxia' farming season—involving harvesting, planting, and field management—nears completion, with wheat accounting for roughly 40 percent of the nation's annual grain supply.
Data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows China's grain output reached 1.4298 trillion jin in 2025, with agricultural science and technology contributions exceeding 64 percent and more than 96 percent of the national wheat harvest completed by June 18.
Xi noted the Communist Party will celebrate its 105th birthday on July 1, stressing that grassroots organizations must coordinate resource allocation to improve rural incomes and meet the people's aspirations for a better life.
The Outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan prioritizes accelerating agricultural and rural modernization through 2035, with strengthening Party leadership serving as a key pathway to advancing comprehensive rural revitalization and national development.
