Girl, aged 11, found dead in park as investigation launched
Police said the girl’s family has been informed and officers are increasing patrols while they investigate the unexplained death.
West Mercia Police confirmed on Monday that an 11-year-old girl was found dead in a park near the cricket ground in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, hours after being reported missing on Sunday, October 4.
Police are treating the death as unexplained while enquiries continue to establish circumstances, with the family being supported by specially trained officers, a spokesperson said.
Residents in Elmley Castle will see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out enquiries, with photos showing a large police cordon around the park edges.
The girl was reported missing at 23:20 BST on Sunday and was later found in the park near the cricket ground near Evesham, detectives said.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the girl's death as police carry out investigations in the area following the discovery in the park.
