Girl, 16, who died in minibus crash in Tadcaster named
The Hyundai driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving in a collision that killed one teenager and injured several others.
- On Monday, North Yorkshire Police formally named the girl who died as Eleanor Hague, 16, known as Ellie, from Sherburn in Elmet; she died at the scene after a collision on Toulston Lane, Tadcaster, at about 12.30pm.
- Police say the Hyundai i10 entered Toulston Lane from Rudgate before colliding with a white Mercedes Sprinter minibus heading towards Sherburn.
- The minibus was carrying nine passengers aged 16 to 18 from Tadcaster Grammar School and Sherburn High School, and another teenage girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries while others had minor treatment.
- Investigators have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage, asking people to email MCIT@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101, quoting reference 12250226227, after the Hyundai driver was released on conditional bail.
