- Delivery workers affiliated with major platforms will stage a nationwide two-hour strike on December 25, including Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, Blinkit, Amazon, Flipkart, and Urban Company.
- Organisers say the strike responds to worsening working conditions as unions say unsafe models, falling incomes and lack of social protection pushed workers to act, the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union highlighted denial of fair wages, safety, dignity and social security.
- Safety and social-security measures top the workers' list of demands, including immediate withdrawal of the dangerous 10-minute delivery model, fair wage structures, mandatory rest breaks, and health insurance, accident coverage and pensions, Mohammad Inayat Ali said.
- Workers urged both the Central and State governments to regulate platform companies, enforce labour protections and recognise collective bargaining rights, while unions say The Karnataka Platform-Based Gig Workers Act, 2025 has not been effectively implemented.
- Organisers framed the action as a collective call for justice and dignity, with Mohammad Inayat Ali, national vice president of IFAT, warning the 10-minute model risks workers' lives and alleging company blackmail against unionising workers.
