The foundation stone for the Kocaeli Northern Light Rail System (LRS) Line, known as Körfezray, was laid at a ceremony attended by Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, Kocaeli Governor İlhami Aktaş, and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın. The Körfezray project, whose first phase comprises 57 kilometers of double-track, 18 stations, is the largest single-stage investment to be undertaken in Kocaeli.
