Giant Eagle Announces Deal to Sell All GetGo Locations Completed: How Your myPerks Will Be Affected
ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, JUN 30 – The $1.6 billion sale adds 270 stores to Couche-Tard's U.S. network and preserves the myPerks loyalty program for customers at both GetGo and Giant Eagle locations.
Giant Eagle has finalized the transaction to transfer ownership of its approximately 270 GetGo and WetGo stores to Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., following approval from the Federal Trade Commission.
Giant Eagle decided to sell GetGo to focus on expanding its core supermarket and pharmacy businesses, planning reinvestment from the sale proceeds.
The companies have committed to continuing and enhancing the myPerks loyalty program, enabling customers to effortlessly earn and use rewards at both Giant Eagle and GetGo locations.
GetGo will celebrate the sale by offering free self-serve beverages and triple myPerks rewards on fuel purchases July 19-20, while the brand and staff remain unchanged, says Couche-Tard CEO Alex Miller.
The transaction marks a new chapter for both companies, with Couche-Tard investing in GetGo's sustained success and Giant Eagle focusing on community growth across its 200+ locations.
