Mobile phone expansion in the area is to be promoted. The Federal Network Agency extends the licenses of three providers free of charge. They have to invest for this.

Today, the Federal Network Agency advises on new expansion requirements for mobile communications. For example, there should be a minimum speed for downloads. Instead of a new frequency auction, usage rights should be extended.

German telecoms regulator set higher coverage targets and sharing obligations in exchange for extending spectrum licences for five years for the three largest mobile operators.

The Federal Network Agency decided on Monday to extend the existing licence of Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica free of charge and for a period of five years in exchange for cover and competition obligations.

The Federal Network Agency has now officially decided to extend usage rights for mobile frequencies in 2025. 1&1 is to be granted access to 800 MHz.
