Germany rejects Taliban’s pick for Afghanistan’s embassy in Berlin

Germany’s Foreign Ministry has said it does not recognize a Taliban-appointed diplomat as to run Afghanistan’s diplomatic mission in Berlin, after reports that the Taliban replaced the current envoy without informing German authorities. German media reported last week that the Taliban had dismissed Abdulbaqi Popal, who had been serving as chargé d’affaires at Afghanistan’s embassy in Berlin, and appointed one of their own diplomats in his place.…
