Germany arrests suspected Hamas member over alleged attack plot
Authorities arrested a Lebanese suspect linked to Hamas for procuring 300 rounds of ammunition and plotting attacks on Jewish and Israeli institutions, officials said.
- On Friday, Mohammad S, a Lebanese national, was stopped at Berlin's Brandenburg Airport after arriving from Beirut on Friday evening and taken into custody by German police.
- Federal prosecutors said Mohammad S helped procure 300 rounds of ammunition in August 2025 and authorities say he colluded with Abed Al G, alleged associate arrested last October.
- Three suspects were reportedly arrested during a weapons handover in Berlin; two are Germany nationals, one is from Lebanon, and searches occurred in Leipzig and Oberhausen.
- Mohammad S is due before a federal judge who will decide on pretrial detention, while another suspected Hamas member was arrested in November near the Czech border.
- Hamas is considered a terrorist organisation by the US, UK and Israel, and its October 2023 attacks killed about 1,200 and took more than 250 people hostage.
