Federal President Steinmeier promised Israel further German aid in the struggle for the release of the hostages still held by Hamas. The fate of the abductees was an "open wound," he said in the kibbutz Beeri, which had been severely destroyed during the attack of the terrorists on Israel in 2023.
For the second time after 7 October, Steinmeier is visiting Beeeri. With German help, the heavily destroyed kibbutz is to become a place of openness and culture again.
