Copenhagen – Water lovers in Germany and other EU countries do not have to worry too much about health-threatening bacteria when cooling off in lakes, rivers, or coastal waters. The cooling down in the lake around the corner can come just as much as the pleasant beach holiday in Southern Europe: the bathing waters of Europe shine almost consistently with excellent water quality.
According to an EU authority, the bathing waters in Bavaria have an excellent water quality almost consistently. Only one of the lakes tested was noticed with a poor value at a measuring point: the Grüntensee at Wertach in the Allgäu. The evaluation refers to the year 2024.
