Georgia Stanway Signs for Arsenal
The England midfielder joins as Arsenal’s first summer signing and is expected to add experience after winning eight trophies at Bayern Munich.
England midfielder Georgia Stanway has joined Arsenal on a permanent deal, moving to north London after departing Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
During her four years in Bavaria, Stanway featured 128 times and secured eight trophies before departing the Frauen-Bundesliga side following her contract's expiry.
Her WSL return follows a seven-year stint at Manchester City where she scored 67 goals in 186 appearances; internationally, she has 93 caps and two European Championship titles with the Lionesses.
Arsenal boss Renee Slegers called Stanway 'among the best midfielders in the world,' as she signed a three-year contract providing experience following departures of Beth Mead, Katie McCabe, and Manuela Zinsberger.
The Gunners finished second in the WSL standings last season, four points behind Manchester City, and Stanway stated she is 'proud to be joining' to help the club win trophies.
Georgia Stanway, 27, left Bayern Munich after the season. Now the English midfielder is ready for Arsenal. – It's an incredible feeling and I'm so proud, says Stanway.
