Deadline Passes for Cowboys, George Pickens to Reach Long-Term Contract Extension
The receiver will play 2026 on a one-year tender after Dallas passed on a long-term deal, and his market value was pegged above $35 million annually.
- Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens will play the 2026 season on his $27.3 million franchise tender after Wednesday's deadline for long-term contract negotiations passed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
- Since the Super Bowl, the Cowboys made clear to Pickens and agent David Mulugheta they held no plans to sign their breakout receiver to a long-term contract extension this offseason.
- Pickens grabbed 93 passes for 1,429 yards last season, the fourth-most in franchise history, and would have a market valuation of more than $35 million per year in standard free agency.
- After missing OTAs in early June, Pickens joined mandatory minicamp and is planning to attend training camp in Oxnard at the end of the month following his unsuccessful trade attempt.
- NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Pickens is "in a good place" and preparing to play out the season to become the top free agent during the 2027 offseason.
