The "Initiative for May 9th" calls for a series of actions for the 80th anniversary of the anti-fascist victory of the peoples. Specifically, it calls for a central anti-fascist - anti-imperialist demonstration of honor, memory and struggle at the monument to the Soviet Soldier on Friday, May 9th at 19:00 at Kallithea Station, as well as an event on Saturday, May 10th at 18:00 at the Athens Law School (amphitheatre 2).

On May 8, 1945, the fascist Wehrmacht surrendered. After twelve years, Germany was liberated from the "1,000-year Reich." The Allied forces defeated fascism. The main force was the then-socialist Soviet Union with its Red Army. Therefore, we call for a memorial service in honor of the more than 800 Red Army soldiers who were exploited in the mines and industrial facilities (then Gelsenberg AG, now BP) and who died barbaric deaths as forced labor…
