Press Release - The police in Gauteng arrested two Taiwan nationals who are suspected to be the owners of an illicit alcohol manufacturing plant in Westonaria on Wednesday, 12 March 2025. At the manufacturing plant, police discovered illicit alcohol to the estimated value of R1 million already packaged for distribution and some inside eleven 250 litre drums.
Police uncover fake alcohol factory in Westonaria
Police have uncovered a massive factory in the Westonaria that manufactures fake alcohol estimated to be worth one million rand. The factory is allegedly run by two Taiwanese nationals who employed numerous undocumented foreign nationals from Malawi and Mozambique. Police pounced on the factory on Thursday morning following a tip-off from some of its employees who complained about unfair labour practices. Nine suspects have since been arrested. …
