Protesters in Serbia rally against real estate project with Trump son-in-law Kushner

Jared Kushner wants to build a luxury hotel in Belgrade. A ruin that stands for a national trauma is supposed to give way to this.

While on Monday 24 March marked the 26th anniversary of the start of NATO bombings against Yugoslavia, the Serbs decided to mark the date. Protesters against corruption and the regime of Aleksandar Vučić demonstrated in front of the former Serbian headquarters in Belgrade. Now a place of memory, this place is threatened by a project of a luxury hotel that could benefit the corruption channels of the relatives of the power.

Most recently, the Trump family had remarkably good contacts with the Serbian government, which could also be related to a hotel project of millions.

In 1999, Nato bombed the building of the Serbian General Staff in Belgrade. Since then, it has been a memorial for civilian victims of misguided air attacks. Now, the building is to be demolished. Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner wants to build a hotel there. That brings many Serbs to the barricades.
