Full vote of confidence for coach John Hynes from Wild GM
Bill Guerin said John Hynes and the current staff will run training camp in September after Minnesota’s playoff exit and special-teams struggles.
The Minnesota Wild's General Manager Bill Guerin confirmed that Coach John Hynes will return to lead the training camp starting in September for the 2026-27 season.
John Hynes led the Wild to a 46-24-12 record this season, achieving his best winning percentage in over 11 years as an NHL head coach and advancing the team to the second round of the playoffs for the first time with the Wild.
Guerin praised Hynes for his detailed communication style and messaging with players and coaching staff, noting it as a key strength despite the team's special teams weaknesses in the playoffs.
Although the team showed weaknesses in power play and penalty kill during the playoffs, plans are in place to improve these areas next season.
