Full moon dates for rest of 2025 as Harvest Moon to illuminate night sky - Liverpool Echo
The Harvest Moon will be a supermoon visible across much of Britain, appearing larger and brighter than usual, with three supermoons expected before year-end, experts say.
- On Tuesday, October 7, the Harvest Moon will appear in UK skies at approximately 6.20pm GMT as a supermoon, the brightest of 2025 so far.
- The Harvest Moon is defined as the full moon closest to the September equinox, and although typically in September, it sometimes occurs in October, which is happening this year.
- Observers can expect the Moon to appear around 30 per cent brighter and up to 14 per cent bigger, rising at around 6.30pm and seeming largest just after 7pm due to the Moon illusion.
- Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said `This week is going to be pretty different to how we ended last week when Storm Amy was hitting` as rain and cloud may block views in northern UK but southern England, Wales, and Glasgow expect clearer skies.
- This is also the first supermoon since November 2024, and there are two more before the year ends: the Beaver Moon shortly before 4pm on November 5 and the Cold Moon at 4.48pm on December 4.
