Bangladesh Police Arrests Fugitive Suspect in Ex-President’s Murder
Police said the retired officer had been a fugitive since 1981 and a US$2,000 reward was offered for information leading to his arrest.

- Authorities had offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, and police detained the suspect shortly after he landed in Dhaka on Thursday.
- Detective Branch chief Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest, saying during interrogation Hossain "explained his role in the assassination to us."
- Following the 1981 assassination, a martial law court convicted 18 military officers; thirteen were executed by hanging, though the defense argued they had not received a fair trial.
