Former NHL Star Ron Duguay, Fighting Cancer, Hospitalized After Losing Consciousness

Former New York Rangers star Ron Duguay was hospitalized after fainting at his home last Friday, with his daughter Shay Thomas announcing he was found unconscious and sustained facial injuries, including lost teeth.
Doctors diagnosed Duguay with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year, and after extensive testing, discovered he was "extremely dehydrated" and had "varices, portal hypertensive gastropathy, internal bleeding, and an ulcer," Thomas wrote on Instagram.

A GoFundMe campaign for medical expenses raised more than $160,000 as of Tuesday, and Duguay wrote on Instagram, "Found my teeth on the bedroom floor," regarding his injuries.
Cancer in the liver has caused dangerous pressure buildup, which can back up into the stomach and cause bleeding; doctors are closely monitoring this pressure and the ulcer, which requires further evaluation.
