Free lecture to discuss World War II – BG Independent News

From GRAND RAPIDS HISTORICAL SOCIETY The Grand Rapids Historical Society has announced a 250th lecture series celebrating 250 years of American history. The programs arranged chronologically from Fallen Timbers to the Vietnam War will take place from April through October. The speakers will be featured in the auditorium of the historic Grand Rapids Town Hall, 24282 Front Street. The topic of the next program on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m., will be World War II, presented by Rob Creps. Creps’s love of history began as a youth listening to his dad’s and other veterans’ stories of WWI, WWII, and Korea. After getting a degree from the University of Toledo, Creps worked for a short time in sales, purchasing, and quality control positions. He has worked the last 30 years programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), which he still does part-time. Creps is an amateur historian, lover of muscle cars, and a firearm enthusiast. He lives in the Grand Rapids area with his wife, Cindy, and enjoys being a Grandpa. Creps has an extensive book collection covering a variety of subjects, and he recently gave a lecture on WWII at Lourdes College. There will be 13 programs presented as part of this lecture series. Admission is free and open to the public, and everyone is invited to help celebrate this milestone birthday of the country by attending these programs.
