Yankees, Red Sox Icons to Call Game
The former stars will call the rivalry game in the broadcast booth and are expected to host guests throughout the telecast, The Athletic reported.
Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and David Ortiz will join host Kevin Burkhardt in the Fox broadcast booth for the June 6th Yankees-Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium.
While the trio typically provides studio commentary for Fox during events like the World Series, this matchup marks a specific shift to game-calling for the rivalry.
Fox president Brad Zager told The Athletic the broadcast will prioritize "depth of storytelling" over statistics, with a "free-flowing" style as guests drift in and out.
Following Fox's coverage of the Belmont Stakes, Jeter and Ortiz will debut as game analysts, despite their legendary status and 130 games played together between the teams.
Entering Saturday, the Yankees hold second place in the American League East, while the Red Sox occupy last place, with both clubs seeking improvement before June.
