Consumer prices rose by 3 per cent year-on-year in September, up from 2.4 per cent in August, according to a provisional estimate published this Wednesday.
According to INSEE, this further increase in inflation is due to the acceleration in energy prices (+ 21.2% in September versus + 16.7%) and fresh products (+ 9.9% versus + 5.9% in August). The wave of inflation is mainly due to the outbreak of the war in Iran and the blocking of the Strait of Ormuz.
