Four drivers sued over $340K in unpaid DC traffic violations
WASHINGTON, DC, JUN 24 – Four drivers accumulated over 1,000 traffic citations mostly for excessive speeding and owe $340,000 under the STEER Act to hold them accountable for dangerous driving.
- DC Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb has initiated legal action against a group of four individuals who hold licenses and plates from Maryland and Virginia, accusing them of accumulating over 1,000 unpaid traffic violations totaling more than $340,000.
- These lawsuits follow the 2024 enactment of the STEER Act, which allows DC to hold repeat out-of-state traffic violators financially accountable for dangerous driving behavior.
- The drivers include Ashley Yvette Kibler with 414 citations and $168,168 owed, Sean Dayoni Hudson with 283 citations and $83,100 owed, Andrea Florence Reid with 206 citations and $56,010 owed, and Terrell Antonio Jenkins with 102 citations and $33,432 owed.
- Most citations involve speeding, including 360 for Kibler, 274 for Hudson, 164 for Reid, and 75 for Jenkins, with some citations for running red lights and other traffic violations.
- Attorney General Schwalb and Councilmember Charles Allen stated that these lawsuits demonstrate a continued commitment to stopping dangerous drivers and sending a strong message about accountability on DC streets.
