Forty days later, snow gives way to light

Easter services began in Weaverville on Sunday morning when a volunteer from the liturgy team stood at the pulpit and cried out, “Hallelujah.” More than 90 people filled the pews at St. Patrick Parish, nearing its posted capacity of 126. Outside, the air matched the feeling inside. It was sunny and warm, with no trace of snow. The weather stood in sharp contrast to 40 days earlier, when parishioners gathered in a snowstorm on Ash Wednesday.
