Fort Fisher aquarium prepares for 'once-in-a-lifetime' renovation

North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher will temporarily close in early 2026 for a $75 million renovation and expansion that will add 35,000 square feet and make it the state’s largest aquarium. The 30-month project is largely state-funded.
