The Area that Veitur Wants to Fence Off Is "Unnecessarily Large"

A geologist says the area that Veitur plans to fence off in Heiðmörk for the sake of water protection is unnecessarily large. He proposes redefining the water protection area and hopes that Veitur, who are responsible for the changes, will hold off on construction in Heiðmörk. The sustainability director says the priorities are simple; water first and other interests later.

A common theme at the meeting was the great dissatisfaction of the meeting guests and panelists with the conduct of the Icelandic Energy Corporation and its subsidiary, Veitur, in the matter. The utility company was accused of being aggressive and bullying, and of trying to avoid dialogue with the citizens when it came to an issue of such great interest.
