Angels Infielder Chris Taylor Unretires Just One Day After Walking Away From Baseball
The 35-year-old will rehab a left forearm fracture and continue pursuing a return to Triple-A Salt Lake, MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger reported.
On Saturday, Chris Taylor reversed his decision to retire from Major League Baseball, just one day after announcing his departure. He was instead placed on the minor league injured list with a left forearm fracture.
Taylor sustained the fracture after being hit by a pitch on Wednesday, May 20, during a minor league game. The 35-year-old had been playing for the Los Angeles Angels' Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees.
A former All-Star, Taylor spent a decade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning World Series titles in 2020 and 2024. He became known as a versatile super utility man for the franchise.
Roberts said, "I hope he, Mary and the kids can ride off into the sunset," though that retirement must wait. Taylor intends to resume playing for Triple-A Salt Lake once his forearm heals.
With 860 hits and 110 home runs across 1,123 career games, the veteran continues his pursuit of an MLB call-up with the Angels. He remains committed despite the latest injury setback.
