Lise Bacon, former minister and former deputy premier of Quebec, has passed away.Her death was confirmed on the National Assembly website.Born in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield in 1934, Bacon became the second woman to be elected to the National Assembly after Claire Kirkland-Casgrain in 1973, having served as president of the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) from 1970 to 1973.
As a second female member of the National Assembly, she held the position from 1985 to 1994 and was a senator in Ottawa.
Lise Bacon, a Liberal politician, first woman elected president of a political party in Canada, responsible for several ministries during the 1970s, 1980s and until January 1994, died at the age of 91.
