'For The First Time In A Long Time, We Feel Heard,' CPRA Terminates Diversion Project After Decade Long Fight

On Thursday, July 17, Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) announced that the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion (MBSD) was officially terminated and the state agency would pursue a much smaller diversion project at Myrtle Grove. This announcement officially closed a protracted political struggle between CPRA and Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) officials and local commercial fishermen over this project.
