‘Black Widow’ Accused of Targeting Men on Dating Apps for Money and Drugging Them, Authorities Say
Authorities say Samantha Adams drugged a man she met on a dating app and faces attempted second-degree murder and multiple drug charges.
- On Aug. 27, deputies arrested 39-year-old Samantha Adams in Davenport, Florida, after she allegedly drugged a 69-year-old man she met on a dating app. Investigators claim Adams intentionally mixed benzodiazepine into his drink at his Haines City home.
- Sheriff Grady Judd described the incident as "Black Widow"-style behavior, noting Adams allegedly demanded $1,000 from the victim to continue their romantic encounter. The pair had previously argued over a vehicle he purchased for her.
- Medical staff determined the victim overdosed on benzodiazepine, a drug he does not take. When taken into custody, Adams possessed a prescription bottle containing 19 hydrocodone-acetaminophen pills, 2.5 oxycodone hydrochloride pills, and other medications.
- Detectives discovered Adams tampered with the victim's home security system during the incident. The victim reported suspicious medical episodes after visiting Adams' Orlando residence, including one where he backed his vehicle into a car while feeling groggy.
- Sheriff Judd expressed concern that additional individuals may have been victimized by Adams, encouraging anyone with information to contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Authorities continue investigating the extent of her alleged criminal activities.
