Florida baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan takes leave of absence to address personal matters
- Wednesday, Florida Gators baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan will take a leave of absence effective immediately to address personal matters, with Chuck Jeroloman, associate head coach , assuming duties and Scott Stricklin, Athletics Director, expressing support.
- Earlier this year the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee issued a public reprimand for O’Sullivan’s aggressive, profanity-laced conduct during the Conway, South Carolina regional in June, and he apologized June 2.
- Known for his long success, Kevin O’Sullivan has a 756-371 record across 18 seasons and led Florida to 17 NCAA regionals, nine College World Series appearances, and six Southeastern Conference championships.
- Florida suspended O’Sullivan for the first three games to open the regular season, causing him to miss opening weekend Feb. 13-15 against UAB in Gainesville.
- Following the tournament exit, the incident drew comment from opponents as video evidence showed more than a dozen expletives in 47 seconds, amplifying criticism from Kevin Schnall, coach of host Coastal Carolina, while the Gators exited the NCAA tournament after allowing 22 runs.
