In the past year, large damage caused by winter and autumn storms has been avoided, for which floods – in May in Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate, in June in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria – caused significant flood damage. Overall, the GDV's natural hazards statistics for 2024 determined insured damages of 5.7 billion euros, the same amount as 2023.
