In Italy, it is now possible to travel on flights to Italian cities and destinations in the Schengen area without having to check documents when boarding the plane, the Corriere della Sera daily reports today, citing a directive from the state civil aviation authority Enac. The move is expected to make flight check-in easier, but according to the authority, random checks are still possible.
At Italian airports, it is now sufficient to present a boarding pass to board a plane, but it is no longer necessary to show an identity document. This applies to all domestic flights and trips to the Schengen area.

From now on, the boarding pass is sufficient at Italian airports when entering domestic flights and travelling to the Schengen area – the identity card no longer needs to be shown.
