The adoption procedure for prospective parents who have not yet been assigned a child is being discontinued. This was announced by Flemish Minister of Welfare Caroline Gennez (Vooruit), who has reached an agreement on a phase-out scenario for intercountry adoption. This form of adoption will be completely abolished in the course of 2027.
