JAJPUR, ODISHA, JUL 21 – Four accused, including two coaches, were detained after a minor girl hockey player accused them of abduction and gang rape at a local lodge, police said.
- Monday saw four persons including two hockey trainers detained by Jajpur Town Police after the 15-year-old minor filed a police complaint about the alleged gang rape on July 3.
- According to the police complaint, she trained at Jajpur Hockey Stadium for the past two years, and on July 3 evening, the accused abducted her and sexually assaulted her by turn.
- The case was registered under BNS and the POCSO Act, Sarat Patra said, while the accused threatened to kill her if she told her family.
- Police said the accused are likely to be formally arrested on Tuesday, as the case proceeds in the district court.
- Within Jajpur district, communities voiced anger over the assault, activists and concerned citizens demanding swift and decisive action.
