First new SM7 commuter train arrives in Finland

The first of Finland’s next-generation commuter trains has arrived, marking the start of a major overhaul of VR’s local train fleet. The new SM7-class unit, built by Swiss manufacturer Stadler, was delivered to the port of Hanko on 9 May. It is the first of 20 trains ordered by national rail company VR. Three more are expected this summer. The initial units will now undergo testing before entering service.
