First Nations partnership to buy B.C. port terminal that moves critical minerals
The partnership aims to enhance economic growth, self-determination, and regional development by consolidating port operations and trucking to move over 260,000 tonnes of minerals annually.
- The Nisga'a and Tahltan Nations, together with Arrow Transportation Systems Inc., have established Portland Canal Holdings Limited Partnership to jointly acquire Stewart Bulk Terminals located in northwest British Columbia.

- The deep-sea port terminal is functioning at half of its maximum capacity and processes roughly 260,000 tonnes of concentrate containing copper and gold each year, supported by a staff of six full-time workers.
- Tahltan Central Government President Kerry Carlick said, "Together, we are making history," and highlighted the acquisition will drive growth and strengthen self-determination.
- The acquisition is anticipated to finalize within the next few months, bringing opportunities for economic expansion, job creation, progress in reconciliation, and increased export capabilities within British Columbia's resource sector.
