First calf through advanced embryo transfer technology born in Puducherry

A pilot project under Rashtriya Gokul Mission has been undertaken aimed at improving the genetic potential and production capacity of cattle population in the Union Territory. As many as 350 healthy cows owned by dairy farmers in Puducherry and Karaikal regions had been selected under the programme and embryos implanted in 125 of them. The cost of implementing the IVF technique is estimated at ₹21,000 per cow
