Number of wildfires soaring in Portugal

The Integrated Fire Management System advances that 72% of the heated area and 53% of the fires this year have been tested in the North region. More than half of the area has been consumed by calls since 26 July.
It's the highest value since 2022.
The forest fires have already consumed nearly 42,000 hectares this year, eight times more than in the same period of 2024 and the highest value since 2022, according to the SGIFR Integrated Fire Management System (SGIFR).
