Firefighters rescue dog from Annapolis creek, offer safety advice about icy waters

- Using coordinated team movement, crews including Brush 40 navigated a 200 foot drop at a 60 degree grade to rescue Gizmo, who was alert but unable to get up, officials said.
- Officials say Gizmo was hypothermic, received treatment in an ambulance and ate a treat while crews stabilized him before transport to the Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic where he later stood.
- The Anne Arundel County Fire Department noted the rescue is a reminder, and Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department posted photos while urging residents that ice on waterways is dangerously thin.
