Firefighter from Ireland sentenced in St. Patrick's Day rape in Boston
- On Thursday, Judge Joshua Wall sentenced Terence Crosbie, 39, Dublin firefighter, to not less than seven and not more than nine years in state prison at Souza Baranowski Correctional Center.
- Following consensual sex at the hotel, the woman woke up to Crosbie actively raping her on March 15 at the Omni Parker House.
- After a first trial ended in a hung jury, prosecutors won conviction last week from a jury of six men and six women, despite DNA testing producing two male profiles insufficient to tie to an individual.
- Prosecutors sought 9-12 years while Crosbie’s lawyer Daniel Reilly asked for 3-5 years, citing his service and credit for time served, and the victim described lasting harm, saying, `The trauma brought upon me that night has hurt my health, my work, my friends, my family and the sense of safety and security and well-being I knew eery day before I was attacked.`
- Having already spent 19 months in remand, Crosbie's family faces the prospect he will miss formative years of his daughters' childhood, with his Irish passport seized and $100,000 bail limiting his ability to return home.
