Ten flights were cancelled and nine diverted on the island of Sardinia on Thursday after a fire broke out near Olbia Costa Smeralda International Airport in the north.
Sardinia and Tuscany are facing devastating wildfires. Hundreds of people have been evacuated amid an intensive intervention by forest authorities, volunteers and aerial firefighting teams.
