(KRON) -- A grass fire at Bayshore Road in Benicia was blocking all lanes of traffic on Interstate 680 Tuesday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol is advising that a severe traffic alert has been issued. The Benicia Fire Department initially called the blaze a two-alarm fire behind Camel Road. A 3 alarm fire broke out near Interstate 680 in Benicia, closing all lanes south on Tuesday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP). The fire was reported near I-680 on Bayshore Road, CHP reported. Firefighters reported that at 3:25 p.m., the fire spread to the central fork between Interstate Highways 780 and 680. Teams are expected to remain in place to clean up, according to the Fire Department of Benicia.
