City unveils statue design for lawyer, civil rights advocate Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander

After eight months of development, Mayor Cherelle Parker and officials from Creative Philadelphia announced the winning artist and design for a statue commemorating economist, lawyer and civil rights advocate Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander.

Final design for Philly's Sadie T. M. Alexander statue unveiled

The final design for Philadelphia's Sadie T.M. Alexander statue was unveiled Wednesday in a ceremony at City Hall. The statue by artist Vinnie Bagwell shows Alexander in her graduation gown. Alexander was the first African American to receive a PhD in economics and the first Black woman to graduate from Penn's law school.
